Your New Favorite Song

For the last several years, I’ve been making money doing journalism, writing critically about music and the arts. That is not what this site is about. This is not an “unbiased” music criticism site. This is a safe haven for me to geek out over Kelly Clarkson and to celebrate each and every Akon guest appearance. In this arena, Vampire Weekend, Sean Kingston and Titus Andronicus can each spend time on my Top Ten Bands OF ALL TIME list. In the same way you don’t edit your enthusiasm and overstatements when turning your friends on to something you’re jazzed about, neither will this blog hold back when pouring it on. This here is a music recommendation site—specifically, a song recommendation blog. Every weekday I will post a recommendation about a song I’m excited about with the purpose of trying to get anyone who reads what I’m writing excited about it too.

I’ll try and do the work for you—checking in on the new releases of most genres (in the U.S., Europe and. when I can find ’em, the rest of the world), obsessively looking for hidden gems on MySpace and keeping tabs on as many music and mp3 blogs as I can handle—but my guess is those who are into music enough to be reading a music blog will probably have a few faves of their own, and I’m hopeful that I’ll get boatloads of new fave tips from visitors.

Who?
This is Jason Cassidy. I write for a weekly newspaper in Chico, Calif. I also play music—sometimes sad-bastard stuff like [this] but usually noisy pop stuff, most recently with [this] and [here]—and I really love organizing fun shows.
